Lorenzo Serafini
Lorenzo Serafini has never been one to shy away from taking risks in fashion. Born in Riccione in 1973, Serafini cut his teeth in the industry through an impressive trajectory that started with Fashion Design studies at Milan’s Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA). He made his mark early, finding his way into some of the most influential creative studios of the late 2000s. First, he worked his magic at Roberto Cavalli, steering womenswear with a flamboyant touch, before moving on to D&G—the younger, wilder sibling of Dolce&Gabbana—and eventually landing at the creative helm of Dolce&Gabbana’s womenswear line.
The real turning point came in 2014, when Lorenzo took on the role of Creative Director for Philosophy, a brand known for its romantic allure with a twist. It was a homecoming of sorts for Serafini, who seemed to channel both nostalgia and modernity, drawing on his years in the industry while breathing fresh life into Philosophy. His debut collection for the brand premiered in February 2015 at Milan Fashion Week, setting a new tone that felt both intimately familiar and daringly contemporary—a nod to Italian femininity reimagined for a new generation.
Serafini’s influence continues to grow, and 2024 has marked another pivotal chapter. In October, Alberta Ferretti herself named Serafini as her successor, making him the new Creative Director of her eponymous label. This move puts Lorenzo at the forefront of Italian fashion once again, where his knack for interpreting romance and opulence meets a house synonymous with ethereal sophistication. As he takes on the reins at Alberta Ferretti, all eyes are on how Serafini will evolve the brand’s signature elegance for today—and tomorrow.
