Supriya Lele
Supriya Lele has carved out a distinct niche in the ever-evolving fashion scene, blending her Indian heritage with a razor-sharp British sensibility. Since her MA graduation from London’s Royal College of Art in 2016, Lele has steadily become one of the most talked-about designers in London. She made her early mark with Fashion East, the incubator known for catapulting young talent, and later under the British Fashion Council’s Newgen program, where her label grew into an emblem of cool, cross-cultural style.
Lele’s collections are an interplay of heritage and minimalism, translating the draped elegance of the sari into pieces that are undeniably contemporary and stripped-back—often with a whisper of the daring. Her designs celebrate femininity but do so with a sense of empowered nonchalance, capturing a rare kind of confidence that’s understated yet unmistakably sensual. Supriya’s woman is effortlessly modern, at ease in her duality—rooted in cultural nostalgia while charging forward.
Recognition has come swiftly. In 2020, she was one of eight recipients of the LVMH Prize fund, a nod to her relevance and the promise of her vision. Her work, showcased at London Fashion Week, has made its way into the racks of fashion’s most discerning stockists like Dover Street Market, Browns, and SSENSE. She also self-published “Narmada,” a book made in collaboration with photographer Jamie Hawkesworth, capturing her unique, intimate worldview, and worked with Sohrab Hura for her Spring/Summer 2022 campaign, cementing her place as both a storyteller and a designer.
Supriya Lele’s designs have become a favorite in editorials, gracing the pages of British Vogue, Vogue India, and The New York Times, among others. Her ability to weave the intricacies of her heritage into the modern, sometimes rebellious spirit of British fashion has made her a standout voice. At a time when authenticity is everything, Lele’s perspective feels refreshingly real—complex yet clear, understated yet deeply impactful.
