Tory Burch

Tory Burch, born in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, in 1966, has become a prominent figure in American fashion, known for her blend of classic style and modern sensibility. After earning a degree in art history from the University of Pennsylvania in 1988, she began her career working for designers such as Zoran and held positions at Harper’s Bazaar, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, and Loewe. In 2004, she launched her eponymous label with a boutique in Manhattan’s Nolita district, quickly gaining attention for her accessible luxury designs. Her brand has since expanded globally, encompassing ready-to-wear, accessories, and the activewear line Tory Sport, introduced in 2015.
Burch’s design aesthetic is characterized by bold colors, graphic prints, and a fusion of bohemian and preppy elements. Signature pieces like the Reva ballet flat, adorned with the iconic double-T logo, have become staples in many wardrobes. Her recent collections have showcased a more experimental approach, such as the Fall/Winter 2025 line presented at the Museum of Modern Art, which featured exaggerated silhouettes and innovative takes on American sportswear. Collaborations, including a limited-edition capsule with Swedish candy company BonBon, demonstrate her playful and creative vision.
Throughout her career, Burch has received numerous accolades, including the CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year award in 2008 and recognition as one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2024. Beyond fashion, she founded the Tory Burch Foundation in 2009 to support women’s entrepreneurship through access to capital, education, and mentorship. Her commitment to empowering women is reflected both in her philanthropic efforts and in her brand’s ethos.
