Jil Sander is turning the page on its minimalist heritage with a new leap into the fragrance world. This latest move arrives just weeks after the label introduced fine jewelry to its repertoire—further proof that the house is in an expansive phase under creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier. Founded by Jil Sander in 1968, the brand remains synonymous with pared-back silhouettes and cool restraint, but now it’s broadening that modern vision to perfume.
Released in collaboration with beauty powerhouse Coty—its partner since 1979—Olfactory Series 1 is a set of six genderless scents: Leaf, Miel, Black Tea, Earth, Coffea, and Smoke. “The leading idea was to change perspective and recalibrate traditional proportions, creating radical compositions that use only the essential: the fragrance, infused with 3 key natural ingredients, the synthetic molecules of aldehydes, alcohol from upcycled carbon emissions, and water,” the brand explained of its approach to fragrance-making under the guidance of creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier. Each blend was conceived alongside noted perfumers like Julie Massé and Mathilde Bijaoui, who helped craft distinctive notes—citrus and cardamom in Leaf, and a floral-wood harmony in Miel.
All six arrive in glass bottles conceived with the design studio Formafantasma. Instead of uniform shapes, each flacon has subtle, organic curves, nodding to the experimental spirit behind the compositions. The final touch is a price range that runs from $70 to $360, so there’s something for fans of this understated aesthetic at every level.
This release comes as Jil Sander sets its sights on new audiences. A store in Dubai is on the horizon, reinforcing the house’s drive to connect with its international clientele. Now backed by OTB Group, the label is determined to carve out a wider lifestyle presence—one that goes beyond ready-to-wear and into the realm of accessories, jewelry, and now scents. Olfactory Series 1 is already available online, offering the perfect finishing detail to any minimalist uniform.
