Camila Morrone’s undeniable allure ignites the Chanel Fall-Winter 2024/25 pre-collection campaign, captured by the lens of Karim Sadli. “Joining the CHANEL family has been a long-standing dream for me,” Morrone shares. “After years of collaborating on shows and red carpets, we’ve cultivated a beautiful dialogue and understanding of my unique ‘CHANEL essence’.”
The campaign’s monochromatic imagery channels the elegance and mystique of 1940s Hollywood, a golden era that has always captivated Morrone: “I watched those films in awe of stars like Rita Hayworth in ‘Gilda’. The allure, class, and power in their attire were unparalleled. They embodied true movie stardom without revealing much skin, yet they were irresistibly seductive. That’s the magic of the French woman.”
Set against the chic backdrop of a Parisian restaurant, the collection radiates glamour and femininity. Highlights include a long black openwork velvet dress, a sleek leather ensemble, and a silk chiffon top and skirt adorned with a bow motif, each piece playing with cut-outs and transparency. The iconic tweed is reimagined as a vest top with a scoop neckline, seamlessly blending with the Belle Époque décor. Signature Chanel elements like camellias, embroidered bows, jeweled buttons, and long-chained bags complement the festive Parisian ambiance, paying homage to Hollywood’s golden age.
The collection deftly balances masculine and feminine elements, a hallmark of Gabrielle Chanel that resonates with Morrone: “I’ve always been drawn to classic silhouettes that subtly highlight femininity, like an exposed décolletage or a cinched waist. At the same time, I appreciate the structure and weight of masculine styles. The interplay between the two is fascinating.” This duality is emphasized in studio shots against a white backdrop, showcasing a long velvet coat with a floral motif and a skirt and short jacket ensemble paired with supple leather knee-high boots.
