Marina is stepping forward with her bow drawn. The Welsh artist’s new track “Cupid’s Girl,” signals a clear shot at fresh romance. “My heart shaped eyes are burning bright,” she proclaims over an electronic pulse, offering a heady glimpse of what’s to come. Her previous single, “Butterfly,” arrived last month, marking her first music since the deluxe edition of Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land dropped in 2022—and now she’s ready to build an entire universe around these songs. “I’ve been writing for six months. It’s still at the beginning,” she shared recently. “This is my favorite  thing—to build the record and build the world around it. I don’t have any timeline yet, but sooner rather than later.”

Music isn’t her only passion—she put out the poetry collection Eat the World last fall, but her new releases show she’s firmly back in album mode. She’s also gearing up for a busy 2025, with multiple festival appearances lined up—Coachella, World Pride Music Festival, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Lollapalooza, and Osheaga all on the horizon. The road ahead looks charged with possibility, and Marina isn’t shying away from facing the future head-on.

“I think the sense of what’s right and wrong particularly resonates because it’s taken me a long time to challenge that and be like, ‘The world is not an ideal place,’ and to try and relax that part in myself. Because I so want it to be, and actually, it kind of blocks you from seeing people and situations for the way they actually are, which has taken me up until this point in my life to be able to do that,” she told Paper. It’s a refreshingly real perspective and one that carries over into her stage presence. Set to light up Coachella on April 11 and 18, she’s ready to share that restless spirit with a live audience.
