Yves Salomon teamed up with Chapo Cremations to unveil a collection that reimagines classic furniture pieces with a shearling twist. The lineup includes the L01 Bed, S31 Ottoman, S11 Chair, S10 Armchair, and the D19 Balance Arm Lamp—all adorned with distinctive shearling designs that bring a fresh, tactile experience to iconic forms.
Staying true to sustainable design principles, the furniture is crafted without hardware, glue, or studs, using reclaimed shearling materials throughout. The Paris exhibition offered an insider’s glimpse into the workshops where these pieces come to life, showcasing meticulous craftsmanship from start to finish. Select original pieces from the private collections of Yves Salomon and Tamara Taichman were also on display, highlighting a timeless appeal that bridges past and present.
Handmade with exceptional materials and intergenerational expertise, each design reflects the shared ethos of both brands—a dedication to luxury that’s both thoughtful and innovative.
S31 Ottoman
The S31 Ottoman stands out with its versatile design, doubling as a seat or stool. Colorful pathways weave across the top, evoking a retro vibe that’s perfectly in sync with today’s aesthetic. Handcrafted shearling details underscore the collection’s commitment to quality, paying homage to its early sixties roots while embodying the refinement synonymous with Yves Salomon.
S10 Armchair
Commanding attention with its bold presence, the S10 Armchair dons its new shearling coat with flair. Stripes, dots, and high-contrast patterns feel fresh yet nod to a seventies color palette. In a time where clever details and playful colors reign supreme, this collaboration captures the spirit perfectly—transforming sleek leather into plush shearling for a softer, more approachable vibe.
D19 Balance Arm Lamp
The D19 Balance Arm Lamp takes on a new dimension with its shearling-upholstered shade—a hanging cube of elegant proportions. While the shade prevents light from passing through its sides, illumination escapes from the top and bottom, casting a warm glow on the lamp’s elm base. For this special collaboration, Yves Salomon designed an intarsia lampshade that enhances the piece’s sculptural qualities.
S11 Chair
Originally fashioned in leather, the S11 Chair receives a modern makeover in this geometric, fuzzy rendition. Bold contrasts and decorative patterns complement intricate joinery, adding new intrigue to an already iconic silhouette. The chair’s strict lines juxtapose with whimsical patterns, making it both fun and inviting.
L01 Bed
First designed as a special commission for writer Samuel Beckett in 1959—also known as the Godot Bed, after his play “Waiting for Godot”—the L01 Bed became an iconic piece in Chapo’s debut collection in 1963. Renowned for its simple yet precise lines and signature box joints at the corners, its versatility allows it to function as a bed, bench, or daybed. The shearling reinterpretation adds warmth and texture to this timeless piece.
