SL3-S: Leica’s Fresh Take on Full Frame

Leica knows how to keep the spotlight. The legendary German brand is once again pushing limits with the SL3-S. This new camera is a full-frame powerhouse that shoots 6K video and quietly debuts content credentials technology for the entire SL range, setting a sleek new standard for photo and video enthusiasts.

Inside, a fresh BSI CMOS sensor clocks in at 24 megapixels, but there’s more beneath the surface. Multi-shot modes unleash 48 or even 96-megapixel outputs, while a dynamic range of 15 stops and ISO up to 200,000 keeps all kinds of lighting in check. The autofocus system operates with phase detection, depth map object detection, and contrast detection, letting you capture action at up to 30 frames per second—no second-guessing, no missed shots.

Videographers get a slice of the action with 6K recording plus 3:2 open-gate capture. ProRes 4:2:2 HQ at up to 5.8K 30 frames per second or C4K 60 frames per second keeps creators in top form, with no time limits on recording. For those who want to claim ownership of their work, the new Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) feature embeds secure metadata so viewers know exactly where and how images were produced and edited.
