Bead-fringed heel tabs and a country-club campaign propel Edison Chen and Hoyeon’s take on the Adidas Stan Smith, arriving June 21.

Edison Chen likes to keep classics on their toes. For his newest project with adidas Originals, the CLOT founder turned to the Stan Smith, that stalwart of white-court dressing, and stitched in something unexpected: rows of glass beads cascading over a contrast heel tab. The effect is low-key at first glance, then unmistakably Clot when the light hits.

To introduce the pair, Chen enlisted Hoyeon, the South Korean model and actor, for a film set in a manicured country club. Between polished greens and whitewashed façades, the two bend etiquette to their own playbook, a nod to how the shoe recasts a uniform staple as a statement piece. Adidas describes the scene as a reclaiming of rarefied space through confidence and creativity, treating the sneaker as invitation rather than ticket.

Chen and Adidas began their partnership just a year ago yet have already pushed silhouettes well past the baseline. Their Superstar morphed into a cap-toe derby, the Gazelle took on an espadrille sole with hand-applied beads, and a wedge-soled dress version surfaced soon after. The beaded Stan Smith continues the conversation but keeps the proportions familiar, only the heel tab and a subtle perforated three-stripe pattern breaking rank.

Retail is set at $160, landing first on the Confirmed app and at select stores including Juice on June 21. A second Stan Smith, this one on an espadrille sole, is slated for later in the summer, extending the thread of craft that runs through Chen’s Adidas output.
