Martin Parr photographs Anthony Vaccarello’s summer staples in scenes where jello melts and tailoring stays crisp.

Saint Laurent’s new campaign goes by the name “An Ordinary Day,” yet creative director Anthony Vaccarello sets the mood a few shades askew. Shot by Martin Parr, the photographs follow Apolline Rocco Fohrer, Stefano Tartini, Lina Zhang, Chantall McCann and Li Cheng Yuan through tableaux that drift between idle holiday and playful dream.

Parr plants the house’s signatures among café plates and backyard backdrops, folding food into fashion until the boundary all but dissolves. Accessories lead the conversation. The Le 5 à 7 Bea tote appears in spotted calfskin, the Babylone Breteuil slingbacks settle beside a plushy, and a trio of chunky gold Twist Cuffs glints under noon light.

By the last frame, “ordinary” feels knowingly ironic: Vaccarello and Parr have shown that a single sun-kissed afternoon can hold every note of the Saint Laurent attitude.
