Mert & Marcus

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott met in London in 1994, and their first collaboration landed on the cover of Dazed & Confused not long after. Over three decades, they’ve shaped a distinct visual language in fashion—always unafraid to play with the boundaries of color and light. Their photographs have graced pages of American, French, Italian, and British Vogue, plus W, Document Journal, Self Service, Interview, LOVE, and Vanity Fair.
Their influence goes well beyond the editorial world. They’ve directed music videos for Madonna and Nicki Minaj, and crafted campaigns for a roster of global luxury houses: Gucci, Versace, Valentino, Calvin Klein, Miu Miu, Lancôme, Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Louis Vuitton. Under Riccardo Tisci’s creative direction, they shot Givenchy’s campaigns for seven years running.
In 2017, they published their first book with Taschen—an extension of a body of work that sits in various public and private art collections worldwide. What started as a spontaneous meeting in London has turned into a longstanding partnership that continues to spark conversations across fashion and culture.
