Jacquemus has landed in New York. On October 18, 2024, the French label opened its first boutique in the city, settling at 143 Spring Street. Dubbed “The New York Boutique,” this new space captures Simon Porte Jacquemus’s curated vision, blending the brand’s Parisian and Provencal DNA with an edge that feels at home in Soho.
The boutique is set in a 270-square-meter space, spread across two floors, and it’s a fusion of contrasting architectural elements. Originally designed by OMA, the structure combines an old-school 19th-century townhouse—brick and wood plank—with a modern extension from the early 2000s made of paneled glass and metal. The result? A facade painted oyster white that brings cohesion to the mix, while a wall of windows opens up to reveal the store’s whitewashed, airy interior.
Inside, the vibe is minimalist but inviting, with a layout that plays with space and light. Bourgogne stone from France makes up the flooring, laid out in a pattern reminiscent of old French castles. Curving stair railings and sinuous clothing racks—crafted by an Italian artisan—add a playful, Provencal twist, almost like ink strokes defining the space. The fitting rooms feature banana yellow curtains, an unexpected flash of color that breaks up the calm neutrals.
The boutique’s interior also reflects Jacquemus’ love for art and mid-century design. Pieces like Frank Lloyd Wright wood side chairs and Jean Royere’s Chaise Croisillon mix with works by artists such as Joan Miró and Wolfgang Tillmans. There’s even a touch of French couture history—a slipper chair that once belonged to Madeleine Vionnet.
It’s clear that this is more than just a retail space; it’s an extension of Simon’s world. Designed to feel intimate and personal, “The New York Boutique” is like stepping into his version of home—one where fashion, art, and a certain effortless charm come together in a uniquely Jacquemus way.
